Life is not about what has or will happen to you, it’s about how you respond.

It's about making meaning from our experiences &

creatively transforming problems into possibilities.

Therapy won’t rid you of problems but it will offer you a space to better understand the challenges you face and will help you grow, empower yourself and build resilience.

I take creative approaches to help you feel at home in your life.

Some of the reasons people seek out psychotherapy with me:

ANXIETY & DEPRESSION

STRESS & TRAUMA

 SELF-ESTEEM & BODY IMAGE ISSUES

EATING DISORDERS

DIFFICULTY BEING WITH FEELINGS SUCH AS ANGER, SADNESS, FEAR, & LONELINESS

RELATIONSHIP ISSUES: DIFFICULTY WITH COMMUNICATION, INTIMACY, TRUST & SEXUALITY

LIFE CHANGES AND TRANSITIONS, INCLUDING GRIEF & LOSS

IDENTITY EXPLORATION

CREATIVE BLOCKS

SENSING A CALLING TO  CONNECT MORE DEEPLY & AUTHENTICALLY TO ONESELF AND OTHERS

As a therapist in Santa Monica, I do my best to provide a safe and nurturing space in which you can explore what matters most to you.

About Therapy

I’m here to help you creatively navigate the chaos of life by  listening, being curious,  helping you identify patterns and exploring solutions that will bring you peace and fulfillment.

The experience and process of therapy is unique to each person. It depends on what you are seeking and how you communicate and connect. It can be highly focused on a specific goal or set of goals or it could be exploratory and meandering.  It can vary in content and approach, depending on what you bring to the session each week and how you express yourself. While talking is generally a large part of therapy, we may also incorporate writing, reflective exercises, meditations, story telling, role plays, and art making.  As we get to know one another, we'll decide what approach works best for you.  I am a Registered Art Therapist. You can learn more about Art Therapy here.

Ultimately I see our work together as a catalyst for growth and change.

About Me & My Approach

I am a naturally curious person and love stories, problem solving, traveling, creating, learning, and adventures.  I grew up in the suburbs of Cincinnati & Cleveland, Ohio and in 2007, moved to Los Angeles for graduate school in Marriage and Family Therapy & Clinical Art Therapy . I found myself in the belly of the beast of a seemingly endless city of contradictions and was forced to start facing my demons head on. Running, yoga, making art, asking lots of questions, reading, journaling, meditation, therapy, traveling, maintaining a sense of humor and building a community of friends have (and continue to be) critical for my inner work. Simultaneously, I learned the art of psychotherapy in the foster care system of Los Angeles.

I am honored to have had the experience of working with many youth and families who are victims to socio-cultural and racial traumas that result in addiction, violence, mental health issues, and homelessness. Working with such diverse individuals and families with complex problems helped me to understand my own cultural beliefs, background, and privilege-- and to realize the power of resiliency when we can access our inner truth.

I do not see myself as an "expert", rather I think of myself as a perpetual student of life. The more I learn the more I realize how little I know. More and bigger questions arise. Rather than settling on an answer, a label, a diagnosis or prescribed way to think or be, I like to consider the possibilities and honor that we are all co-existing in our own realities. While this can be a bit of a mind trip, I have found great comfort and empowerment through realizing that my beliefs and thoughts shape the way I move about in this life and relate to others. This philosophy, coupled with participating in 9 years of Jungian analysis, has aided in my efforts to practice balance and truth. My teachers are my family, friends, therapist, books, movies/shows, clients, colleagues, community, and my shadow parts.

I deeply resonate with psychological and therapeutic theories including:  attachment theory, positive psychology, developmental psychology, neuroscience, cognitive-behavioral therapy, mind/body (somatic) therapy, existentialism, narrative therapy, theories of the unconscious, particularly the writing of Carl Jung and other Jungian analysts, and mindfulness.

When I'm not contemplating the meaning and purpose of life or trying to understand the human condition, I'm usually trying to keep myself sane with exercise, art making, cooking without recipes, trying new restaurants, dreaming up my next destination for travel, exploring nature, relaxing with friends and family or  binge watching all the shows.

While I practice therapy in my Santa Monica office,  I also serve clients in nearby neighborhoods including:

West Los Angeles

Marina Del Rey

Culver City

Mar Vista

Venice

Brentwood

Playa Vista
